Siwelele FC have confirmed a new role for Lehlohonolo Seema following the lifting of his suspension, while Willem Jackson is set to leave the club.
Seema’s future at the club had been uncertain after he was suspended alongside his assistant, Jackson, following Siwelele’s 3-1 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs on 6 September.
With the coaching duo sidelined, legendary figure Godfrey Mosoetsa stepped in as interim coach and has remained in charge of the first team.
However, Siwelele have now clarified that Seema remains part of the club — although his next assignment will be away from the senior team.
Seema moves to DDC role
Siwelele chairman Calvin Le John confirmed during the club’s general meeting that Seema will take charge of the club’s Diski Challenge (DDC) side.
The move means the former Lesotho and Orlando Pirates captain will continue his association with Siwelele after previously leading the senior team.
Seema played a role in helping the club avoid relegation last season, but the team struggled for consistency during the current campaign.
The club’s decision also comes after a significant number of players were sold, with Siwelele undergoing a period of change both on and off the pitch.
What does the future hold for Seema?
While Seema remains employed by Siwelele, his move to the DDC team represents a significant change from his previous position as head coach of the senior side.
It remains to be seen whether the experienced coach could eventually return to the first-team setup or whether the DDC position marks a permanent change in his role at the club.
For now, Siwelele appear to be backing Seema to continue contributing to the club — but from a different position.
Could Seema make his way back to the Siwelele first team? Have your say in the comments.
