Celebrated South African DJ and media icon Lamiez Holworthy has opened up about the “miracle” of motherhood, sharing a deeply personal reflection as her son, Leano-Laone Zion Morule, celebrates his third birthday.
In an emotional social media tribute, Lamiez revealed that she recently watched the raw, unedited footage of her birth experience for the very first time—an experience that moved her to tears.
Overcoming the Shadow of Loss
For Lamiez, Leano’s arrival was the culmination of a difficult journey. Having previously experienced a heartbreaking miscarriage, the DJ admitted she had subconsciously guarded her heart against the hope of ever becoming a mother.
“I cried in disbelief. I cried because till this day I still do not feel worthy of a blessing as big as Leano-Laone,” she shared.
The turning point came on her 30th birthday, a milestone day made unforgettable by the discovery that she was pregnant with her “answered prayer.”
Facing the Fear: The Reality of the Operating Room
Lamiez didn’t shy away from the less glamorous, high-anxiety moments of childbirth. Despite her signature aesthetic featuring numerous tattoos, she confessed a paralyzing fear of medical needles.
The Birth Hurdles:
- The Catheter & Epidural: She recalled the terror of being told a catheter was necessary and the anxiety of staying perfectly still for spinal injections.
- The Panic Attack: Moments before the C-section, the pressure became overwhelming. “I struggled to breathe, worrying whether the doctors would deliver him safely in time,” she noted.
- The Support System: Throughout the ordeal, her husband, legendary hip-hop artist Khuli Chana, remained her anchor, providing the reassurance she needed to push through the fear.
Three Years of Leano-Laone
At just after 10:00 AM three years ago, the fear vanished the moment she saw her son’s face. Today, Lamiez describes the birthday boy as the “smartest, bravest, and funniest little guy” she knows. Her story serves as a powerful testament to resilience and the profound healing that motherhood can bring after a period of loss.
