Orlando Pirates produced arguably their most dominant performance of the season on Sunday, March 22, dismantling TS Galaxy to leapfrog Mamelodi Sundowns and secure the #1 spot in the standings.
The Relebohile Mofokeng Show
The headline of the afternoon belonged to Relebohile Mofokeng, who recorded his first career hat-trick. The young star set the tone in the 3rd minute with a precision free-kick and never looked back:
- 3′: Opens the scoring with a clinical set-piece.
- 53′: Doubles his tally early in the second half.
- 69′: Completes the hat-trick, cementing a Man of the Match performance.
First-Half Blitz
Pirates suffocated the Galaxy defense from the whistle. While TS Galaxy’s Ira Tape made several brave saves, the pressure eventually broke the hosts:
- Tshepang Moremi doubled the lead in the 40th minute following a clever short-corner routine.
- An unfortunate own goal by Mlungisi Mbunjana just before the break sent the Buccaneers into halftime with a commanding 3-0 cushion.
Second-Half Clinical Finish
The Sea Robbers showed no mercy in the final 45 minutes. Alongside Mofokeng’s goals, Kamohelo Sebelebele found the back of the net midway through the half, rounding off a six-goal masterclass that reflected total tactical control.
