South African media personality and singer Londie London has finally broken her silence on why she abruptly walked away from the acting world. During a candid sit-down on the Read The Room podcast—part of the popular Podcast and Chill Network—the former Real Housewives of Durban star detailed a “horrible” on-set encounter that ended her acting aspirations for good.
The Reality of Unprepared Intimacy
Londie revealed that her lack of formal training made her particularly vulnerable during the filming of a sensitive scene. Without an intimacy coordinator or proper guidance, a scripted moment of passion quickly turned into a source of deep distress.
“First of all, I am not a trained actress, and there was no trainer to prepare us for these types of scenes, so nobody told me what to expect,” she explained to hosts Shamiso Mosaka and Phil Mphela.
A Boundary-Crossing Encounter
The singer described a specific scene involving a male co-star that left her feeling overwhelmed and physically uncomfortable. Londie recalled being in lingerie while her co-star lay on top of her, describing the environment as “confusing” and “uneasy.”
The lack of professional boundaries and the physical reality of the scene—noting the co-star’s heavy breathing and physical proximity—became the breaking point for her.
“I was very confused about what was happening,” she admitted. “I swore to myself that I would never take up acting again. I had a horrible experience when filming that hot scene with this man.”
Choosing Well-Being Over the Screen
While she noted that her co-star was “very hot,” Londie clarified that a romantic connection was out of the question due to their age gap, jokingly adding that a man even two or three years younger than her is “just a boy” in her eyes.
Ultimately, the experience highlighted the need for better protection and training for performers in the South African television industry. For Londie, the decision was simple: her mental well-being and comfort were worth more than any acting credit.
