Moozlie has received her first career plaque, celebrating a special recognition from Industry Nite SA after more than a decade in South African entertainment.

Moozlie has reached a special new milestone in her career after receiving her first-ever plaque, with the South African rapper revealing that the recognition carries a meaning far beyond streams, sales or official certifications.

The award was presented by Industry Nite SA, a platform dedicated to celebrating excellence in South African music and entertainment while providing artists with opportunities to perform, learn and network.

Moozlie, real name Nomuzi Mabena, shared the milestone with her followers on social media, reacting with a mixture of humour, gratitude and faith.

“Guess what guys… I just got my first plaque,” she wrote alongside a glowing disc emoji.

The rapper jokingly questioned whether the award could officially be considered a plaque without RISA approval, but admitted that the gesture still brought her genuine happiness.

She described the moment as a “heartwarming chuckle during prayer this week”, highlighting the personal significance behind the unexpected recognition.

Moozlie says the plaque is about more than success

For Moozlie, the biggest value of the award is not what it represents commercially, but what it reminded her about her journey.

The rapper reflected on the importance of character and personal growth, saying the moment reminded her that God is more concerned with her heart and character than with the amount of success she could accumulate.

While Moozlie remains determined to achieve the industry’s official certifications and traditional career milestones, she said the recognition still meant a great deal because it showed that her work and dedication had been noticed.

She also thanked Industry Nite SA for the honour and praised everyone who supported the platform by attending and engaging with its activities.

A career spanning more than a decade

Moozlie’s latest recognition comes more than a decade after she first made a major breakthrough in the South African entertainment industry.

She rose to prominence after winning the MTV Base VJ Search in 2012, subsequently building a career that has extended across hip-hop, television, fashion, radio and entrepreneurship.

As a rapper, she has released projects including Versus and Victory, while continuing to establish herself as one of South Africa’s recognisable entertainment personalities.

Her career has also demonstrated her ability to move beyond music and build a broader personal brand.

A different kind of career milestone

Plaques are traditionally linked to measurable achievements such as streams, sales and certifications.

Moozlie’s latest honour, however, represents something different.

Rather than simply celebrating a number, the plaque acknowledges the consistency, contribution and character behind a career that has continued to evolve over the years.

Official certifications may remain among Moozlie’s future goals, but her first plaque has already given her another reason to celebrate — and a reminder that success can sometimes be measured by the impact made along the way.
