The Big Hash has praised Rush-Awa’s self-titled debut album, describing the 15-track project as a “huge win for Hip Hop” as MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe bring together a wide range of South African rap talent.
The rapper shared his reaction to the project on X while linking fans to the album on Apple Music, giving the collaborative release a public endorsement.
“This album is such a huge win for Hip Hop!” The Big Hash wrote.
Rush-Awa Brings SA Hip-Hop Together
Rush-Awa is the collaborative production project of MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe, with the debut album built around one of the duo’s biggest creative themes: bringing different artists together on the same platform.
Across its 15 tracks, the project features a mix of established names and emerging voices from South Africa’s hip-hop scene.
The album follows a series of singles that helped introduce the Rush-Awa concept throughout 2026.
From “Lapisa” to the Full Album
The rollout began with “Lapisa,” featuring Lowfeye, LaCabra and Dolphin_DX. The track went on to earn gold certification, giving the duo an early milestone ahead of the full project.
Rush-Awa followed with “Ntshepe” in August, bringing together Loatinover Pounds, Sjava and Cassper Nyovest.
The remix of “Ballon d’Or,” featuring Focalistic and MfanaTouchLine, added further momentum as anticipation for the album continued to build.
With the full project now available, MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe have expanded that collaborative formula across a much larger collection of songs.
A Star-Studded Tracklist
The album features several major collaborations.
“Chocolate 2by2” brings together 25K, Blxckie and Maglera Doe Boy, while “Streetz” features Blxckie, Nasty C and Usimamane.
Elsewhere, Emtee and issi appear on “Mama,” while “Umkhonto” features Blxckie, Flow Jones Jr., KindlyNxsh and K.Keed.
The closing track, “Pray 4 It,” features 25K, Mochen, Saint Cielo and Thato Saul.
Other contributors include Danya Devs, FLVME, Wordz and BABYLOWSK1, adding further variety to the project’s sound and guest lineup.
The Big Hash Shows His Support
The Big Hash’s reaction adds another layer to the conversation surrounding the album.
Known for his own work within South African hip-hop, the rapper has also explored collaborative releases, making his recognition of Rush-Awa’s approach particularly relevant to a project built around bringing artists together.
Rather than placing one artist at the centre of the album, Rush-Awa uses MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe’s production as the foundation for multiple voices, styles and perspectives.
That collaborative structure allows the project to move across different corners of the South African hip-hop landscape while maintaining a unified production identity.
A Collaborative Statement for SA Hip-Hop
For MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe, Rush-Awa represents more than a collection of individual collaborations. The album creates a platform where established artists and newer voices can share the same project.
The Big Hash’s description of the album as a “huge win for Hip Hop” reflects the broader significance of that approach.
With its extensive guest list and focus on collaboration, Rush-Awa’s debut adds another major release to the 2026 South African hip-hop conversation.
