Woolworths has been named the Official Supermarket Supporter of the 2027 Men’s Rugby World Cup and 2029 Women’s Rugby World Cup in Australia.

Woolworths is set to play a major role in the next two Rugby World Cups after being named the Official Supermarket Supporter of the 2027 Men’s Rugby World Cup and the 2029 Women’s Rugby World Cup.

World Rugby announced the multi-tournament partnership as preparations continue for two major international rugby events that will both be hosted in Australia.

The agreement will see Woolworths support the tournaments through its extensive retail presence across Australia and New Zealand.

Woolworths Partners With Two Rugby World Cups

The partnership covers both the men’s tournament in 2027 and the women’s edition in 2029, giving Woolworths a presence across two of the biggest events on the international rugby calendar.

The retailer operates more than 1,000 stores across Australia and more than 180 in New Zealand, providing the partnership with an extensive connection to communities in the region.

World Rugby Chief Revenue Officer Michel Poussau said the relationship would help take the Rugby World Cup experience beyond the stadium environment and into communities.

He highlighted the ability of the tournaments to bring people together and create shared experiences around the sport.

For Woolworths, the partnership provides an opportunity to connect with rugby supporters while playing a role in two landmark Australian sporting events.

Australia Prepares for a Massive Rugby Showcase

The 2027 Men’s Rugby World Cup will be staged across Australia over six weeks, with 24 teams competing across seven host cities.

The expanded 24-team format will see more nations compete for the Webb Ellis Cup, adding another dimension to what promises to be a major global sporting event.

With Australia preparing to welcome teams and supporters from around the world, Woolworths’ extensive retail network gives the supermarket a natural connection to communities hosting and following the tournament.

Australia Set for Back-to-Back Rugby World Cups

The partnership also looks beyond 2027.

Australia will host the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2029, meaning the country will stage both major Rugby World Cup tournaments within a three-year period.

That creates a significant opportunity for Australian rugby, with the men’s and women’s games set to receive major international attention during the period.

For Woolworths, supporting both tournaments provides continuity across two editions of the Rugby World Cup and reinforces its involvement in the growth and visibility of rugby.

With the 2027 tournament now approaching, the countdown to Australia’s Rugby World Cup is gathering momentum — and Woolworths will be one of the brands playing a prominent role along the way.
