Red Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe believes his side have an 8/10 chance of eliminating Kaizer Chiefs from the CAF Confederation Cup after winning the first leg 1-0.

Red Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe has issued a confident warning to Kaizer Chiefs ahead of Friday’s decisive CAF Confederation Cup second leg, insisting his side are well placed to reach the group stages.

The Zambian outfit secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Amakhosi in the first leg, giving them a slender advantage heading into the return fixture at FNB Stadium.

Mbewe, however, believes Red Arrows could have put the tie beyond doubt in the opening encounter after creating several scoring opportunities.

“We are very confident. This is a competition; we shouldn’t give it away,” Mbewe said.

The coach revealed that his original target was to score three goals in the first leg, but his side managed only one despite generating enough chances to build a more commanding lead.

Red Arrows confident ahead of Chiefs clash

Despite the missed opportunities, Mbewe remains convinced that Red Arrows can finish the job in Johannesburg.

Asked to rate his team’s chances of eliminating Kaizer Chiefs on a scale of one to 10, the coach gave his side an eight.

“I can assure you that this time around, Red Arrows is qualifying for the group stage,” he said.

The confidence will add further pressure to a Kaizer Chiefs side that must overturn the first-leg deficit to keep their continental campaign alive.

Chiefs need to win by at least two clear goals to secure progression without relying on a more complicated outcome.

For Fernando Da Cruz and his players, the second leg represents a crucial test. They will need to find a way through a Red Arrows defence that already has a one-goal cushion while avoiding another costly setback.

With a place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage at stake, Friday’s encounter promises to be a high-pressure night for Amakhosi.
