Richards Bay FC are reportedly discussing Dimitar Pantev’s future after a difficult start, with the coach under pressure just 42 days after his appointment.

Richards Bay FC could be preparing for another major shake-up, with reports suggesting that head coach Dimitar Pantev’s future is under serious scrutiny just six weeks after taking charge.

The Bulgarian tactician was appointed on 21 September 2026, but his early spell at the Betway Premiership club has been difficult. With results failing to improve, the Natal Rich Boyz are reportedly considering whether to make another change in the technical team.

Pantev under pressure after difficult start

Richards Bay are still searching for their first league victory of the season after nine Betway Premiership matches. Their problems have also spilled into other competitions, where they have suffered six consecutive defeats.

According to a report by FARPost’s Sinethemba Makonco, club management are discussing Pantev’s position, with internal conversations expected to help determine whether he will remain in charge.

The 50-year-old arrived with coaching experience from clubs including Simba SC, Gaborone United and Jwaneng Galaxy. However, his time on the East Coast has so far failed to deliver the results the club needs.

Richards Bay’s recent defeats include:

  • 13 October 2026: 1-4 against Mamelodi Sundowns
  • 25 October 2026: 1-3 against Sekhukhune United
  • 31 October 2026: 1-3 against Kruger United

The loss to Kruger United was another damaging setback for a side already struggling for confidence. Richards Bay remain at the foot of the Betway Premiership table, increasing the pressure on the club’s coaching staff.

Will Richards Bay give Pantev more time?

The club now faces a difficult decision. The poor run of results has made Pantev’s position increasingly uncertain, but he has had only a short period to introduce his methods and reshape the team.

Changing coaches so early could bring a fresh approach, but it would also mean another transition for a squad already battling to find consistency.

For now, Richards Bay have not officially announced a decision on Pantev’s future. However, with management reportedly reviewing the situation, the coming days could be crucial for the Bulgarian coach.

A decision to dismiss him would mark a remarkably short stay at the club — just 42 days after his appointment.
