Grammy-winning DJ and producer Black Coffee is continuing his philanthropic efforts, launching his 2026 philanthropic initiatives with a significant impact in Soweto.

Born Nkosinathi Maphumulo, the international star visited Thabisang Primary School in Orlando West, Johannesburg, on Friday to kick off the Black Coffee Foundation’s 2026 Back to School campaign. In partnership with Gautrain, the foundation distributed full school uniforms and shoes to learners in need.

Restoring Dignity and Confidence

The initiative aims to do more than just provide clothing; it seeks to empower students to start their academic year with confidence and pride.

“This initiative is about more than clothing. It’s about restoring dignity, strengthening community, and investing in the future, one learner at a time,” the foundation stated.

Launching the “Gift of Sight” Initiative

In addition to the uniform handover, Black Coffee launched a vital new programme called Gift of Sight. This initiative focuses on early detection and intervention for vision challenges among pupils.

By identifying eyesight problems early, the programme ensures that preventable vision issues do not hinder a learner’s long-term academic journey.

“We’re proud to be implementing this programme directly where it makes the biggest difference—in schools, within communities,” the foundation added.
