The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the Western Cape has confirmed that social media personality Musawenkosi Khawula remains a fugitive from justice. An active warrant of arrest is currently in effect following his failure to appear in court in connection with a 2022 murder charge.
The Case Timeline
Khawula, widely known on X (formerly Twitter) as “Gossip Girl,” is facing a murder charge related to the death of his former partner, Wandile Khambule (Case reference: CAS 35/03/2022).
- The Bail Breach: Khawula was initially granted bail by the Vredenburg Magistrates’ Court. However, he failed to attend court proceedings on 28 January 2025.
- Bail Forfeiture: Following his non-appearance, the court issued an immediate warrant for his arrest on 28 January 2025. Subsequently, on 11 February 2025, the court officially forfeited his bail.
- Legal Delays: Before his disappearance, the trial had been plagued by multiple postponements, largely to accommodate the appointment of new legal representation for the accused.
Ongoing Manhunt
The NPA has confirmed that Khawula has not been seen in court since early 2025. The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Vredenburg is currently leading an active search to locate him and compel him to face trial.
Despite his prominent and often controversial presence on social media, Khawula has remained silent regarding the case and his current whereabouts. Authorities continue to treat the matter as a priority, with the search for the accused ongoing.
