The “King of Amapiano,” Kabza de Small (Kabelo Motha), is once again at the center of intense social media speculation. Recent headlines suggesting an “exclusive” imminent arrest have left fans demanding answers. However, the reality of the situation is more complex than a simple “breaking news” alert.
The Source of the Conflict, Breach of Contract?
The primary reason Kabza de Small often faces these legal threats stems from contractual disputes involving international promoters, most notably in Zimbabwe.
Why he is facing these possible arrest recommendations:
- Performance No-Shows: The most significant legal pressure came from promoters of the Victoria Falls Carnival. Kabza and DJ Maphorisa were accused of failing to honor a performance in 2022 despite receiving full payment.
- Unresolved Refunds: Promoters claimed they were owed hundreds of thousands of Rands in booking fees, flights, and accommodation. When these were not refunded, legal teams recommended the High Court of Zimbabwe issue a warrant of arrest to “confirm jurisdiction” (essentially forcing the artist to stay in the country until the debt is settled).
- The “Scorpion Kings” Legal Battle: Because Kabza and Maphorisa often travel together, any legal action against the brand usually targets both. Recommendation for arrest often surfaces whenever they are booked for a new show in a territory where they have a pending legal debt.
