Shebeshxt attempted murder trial date

The legal woes surrounding popular Lekompo artist Shebeshxt have reached a critical juncture, with the State announcing the completion of its investigations into a high-profile attempted murder case.

Shebeshxt, legally known as Katlego Lehlogonolo Chauke, appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where it was confirmed that the prosecution is now ready to proceed to trial.

The Charges and Consolidation

The charges stem from a November incident where Chauke allegedly shot a fan who was attempting to greet him, leaving the individual seriously injured.

Furthermore, it was revealed in court that the Director of Public Prosecutions has ordered the consolidation of multiple cases against the musician. Chauke is currently facing a total of nine charges, ranging from attempted murder to possession of an unlicensed firearm.

“To confirm, investigations are complete… We request that this matter be postponed for arrangement of a regional court date,” Prosecutor Kgaogelo Lekoloane told the court.

Postponement and Custody

The case has been postponed to March 27, 2026, for the formal arrangement of a regional court trial date. The court noted that Chauke will remain in custody until his next appearance.

Additionally, recent allegations of being found in possession of drugs and a cellphone while in holding cells have complicated his bail prospects, though these specific charges were delayed due to missing information in the police docket.
