Doja Cat is making headlines once again—not just for her performance in Pretoria, but for the “unconventional” way she’s handling family dynamics. During her recent trip to South Africa, the “Paint The Town Red” rapper attempted to invite her father, veteran actor Dumisani Dlamini, to her show. When he declined, things took a turn for the hilarious.
The Invite and the “WhatsApp” Excuse
In a viral TikTok video, Doja (born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini) explained that her father turned down the VIP invite because of a supposed lack of communication. According to Doja, Dlamini claimed he couldn’t attend because she doesn’t “message him enough” or use WhatsApp to stay in touch.
A Very “Doja” Response
Never one to play by the rules, Doja decided to troll her father rather than argue. When he asked for a link to the tickets, she sent him a link to gay adult content instead.
“I sent him [the link] and said if you go to this link, you can get a ticket… and he said, ‘I will send this to my management, my management will handle all of this. At the moment I’m just very busy,'” Doja recounted while laughing.
“Darling, Is This a Scam?”
The prank reached its peak when Dlamini actually clicked the link. Doja mimicked his confused reaction, noting that he eventually asked, “Darling, what is this? What I’m seeing is… I don’t know if it’s a scam.”
Despite the cheeky exchange, the moment has given fans a rare, lighthearted glimpse into the relationship between the global pop star and the man known for his iconic role in Sarafina!.
