With a massive crowd expected for the second leg against World Cup contenders Panama, public transport is being touted as the fastest—and safest—way to catch the 19:30 kick-off.
The Logistics: Cheap Seats and Late-Night Rails
PRASA has officially confirmed a massive boost in services to accommodate the “Bafana Fever.” Whether you’re coming from the Southern Suburbs or the Northern Line, the rail network is fully operational and ready for matchday.
- Cost: Return tickets are just R20.
- Late Travel: Special return trains will depart from Cape Town Station starting at 22:00 to ensure everyone gets home after the final whistle.
- Bonus: Ticket holders can also access various FREE transport options as part of the City’s event plan.
Where to Park: Secure Metro Rail Facilities
To avoid the gridlock in Green Point, fans are encouraged to use Park & Ride stations. These facilities are monitored 24 hours a day by PRASA Protection Services and local law enforcement.
Southern Line (Cape Town – Fish Hoek)
- Kenilworth: Public parking directly opposite the station.
- Heathfield, Lakeside, & False Bay: Secure PRASA-managed parking.
- Fish Hoek: Use the station public parking or the beach parking area.
Northern Line & Key Hubs
Commuters can safely leave their vehicles at the following monitored stations:
- Major Hubs: Bellville, Kuils River, Brackenfell, Kraaifontein.
- Local Stops: Strand, Eerste River, Tygerberg, Vasco.

Western Cape Mobility Minister Isaac Sileku highlighted that all metro lines, including the critical Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain routes, are back in action.
“Our vision is an affordable, safe, and well-connected transport system where trains are the first choice, not the last,” Sileku noted, emphasizing the goal to reduce congestion around the stadium precinct.
Pro Tip: Arrive early! With kick-off at 19:30, getting to your Park & Ride station by 17:30 will give you plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere before the match starts.
