Kaizer Chiefs hosted a high-profile visitor at their iconic Naturena Village this week: former Chelsea and Côte d’Ivoire forward, Salomon Kalou. The decorated star, known for his time at Stamford Bridge, touched down in Johannesburg (eGoli) and made the Kaizer Chiefs facility one of his stops on Wednesday.

Kalou, born on August 5, 1985, boasts a phenomenal trophy cabinet that solidifies his respectable standing in world football, including:
- UEFA Champions League (2011/12)
- English Premier League (2009/10)
- Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) (2015)
Speaking to the Amakhosi media from the village, Kalou expressed his admiration for the club: “I am truly impressed by the facilities here and the welcome I have received,” he stated. He also noted a sentimental connection, adding, “I have always admired Kaizer Chiefs because they wear the same colours as my former club, ASEC Mimosas.” Furthermore, the Ivorian revealed that he and his brother grew up admiring Amakhosi legend, Doctor Khumalo.

What’s Next for Kaizer Chiefs?
While Salomon Kalou’s visit provides a highlight, the Glamour Boys are currently on a two-week break.
- Having been knocked out of the Carling Knockout (CKO) by Stellenbosch FC, Chiefs will be inactive this weekend while the CKO semi-finals take place.
- The CKO weekend will be followed by a FIFA international break, where Bafana Bafana prepares for the Afcon 2025 in Morocco against Zambia.
Coached by Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, Kaizer Chiefs’ next fixture is set for Saturday, November 22, against Magesi FC in Polokwane. The team currently sits in a strong third place in the league, just three points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, and critically, holds a game in hand.
