Bafana Bafana star Relebohile Mofokeng has reportedly attracted attention after making an impressive start to life in Belgium, with speculation mounting that his stay at Union Saint-Gilloise could be shorter than expected.
The former Orlando Pirates academy product has wasted little time making an impact since his move to Europe.
Mofokeng’s outstanding 2025/26 campaign helped secure his transfer to Union Saint-Gilloise, following a season in which he produced 10 goals and eight assists in 27 league appearances for Pirates.
His early performances in Belgium have only added to the excitement surrounding his future.
Mofokeng making his mark in Belgium
The 21-year-old has already scored twice in his first four Jupiler Pro League appearances during the 2026/27 campaign.
He also played a decisive role in Union SG’s Belgian Super Cup triumph in July, converting the winning penalty during the shootout victory over Club Brugge.
Those performances have strengthened the belief that Mofokeng has the ability to compete at the highest level of European football.
Bafana legend Shaun Bartlett has previously suggested that the young attacker may not spend a long period in Belgium, although much could depend on how quickly he settles into European football.

The Buccaneers are reportedly dealing with interest in Bafana winger Oswin Appollis, with an unnamed foreign club said to be interested in securing his services.
Pirates could potentially soften the blow with the return of Mohau Nkota, who has arrived on loan after previously leaving the club.
Nkota enjoyed an impressive campaign before his departure, recording nine goals and six assists in 30 league appearances.
Busy period ahead for the Buccaneers
While transfer speculation continues to surround some of their key players, Pirates have important matches on the immediate horizon.
The defending South African champions drew 0-0 with La Cure Waves FC of Mauritius in the first leg of their CAF Champions League qualifying tie.
