Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has taken a significant step in managing his career by joining Belgian-based player representation agency Lupus Sports.
The agency confirmed the acquisition of the 26-year-old midfielder, who has struggled for regular playing time at Naturena this season.
Ngcobo has made just one league appearance for Amakhosi during the current campaign, with his limited involvement fuelling speculation over his future at the club.
Ngcobo Links Up With Lupus Sports
Lupus Sports, also known as Lupus Sportsmanagement, announced the midfielder’s arrival on social media.
“Welcome to Lupus Sports Nkosingiphile Ngcobo,” the agency said.
Founded in Ghent, Belgium, in 2018, Lupus Sports specialises in player management, career planning, marketing and legal representation.
The agency already represents several South African footballers, including Kamogelo Sebelebele, Samukelo Kabini, Bathusi Aubaas, Siviwe Magidigidi, Diteboho Mofokeng and Lindokuhle Zikhali.
Ngcobo’s decision to work with new representatives comes at an important stage of his career as he looks to regain consistent playing time and determine his next move.
A Long Association With Kaizer Chiefs
Ngcobo has been part of the Kaizer Chiefs setup for more than a decade.
The Pietermaritzburg-born midfielder joined the club’s youth academy in 2014 after coming through AmaRoto. He progressed through the ranks and eventually captained the club’s reserve side in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge.
His technical ability, passing range and vision quickly made him a popular figure among the Amakhosi faithful.
Ngcobo made his senior debut in March 2019 during Kaizer Chiefs’ 1-0 victory over Maritzburg United. Since then, he has accumulated more than 100 appearances for the Soweto giants across competitions.
His performances also earned him recognition at international youth level. He represented South Africa at U20 and U23 level and was included in the CAF Best XI at the 2019 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
Game Time Remains A Concern
Despite showing flashes of his ability, Ngcobo has found it increasingly difficult to establish himself as a consistent starter at Kaizer Chiefs.
His appearance numbers have fluctuated considerably over recent seasons. He made 25 appearances in the 2020/21 campaign, followed by 16 in 2021/22, 13 in 2022/23, 12 in 2023/24, 11 in 2024/25 and 16 last season.
This season has proved even more challenging, with the midfielder making only one league appearance so far.
Competition for attacking midfield positions has also intensified, with players such as Mduduzi Shabalala and Ethan Chislett featuring in the number 10 role, while younger options including Mfundo Vilakazi and Luke Baartman have also received opportunities.
What Next Transfer window still ahead, his new representation could also play a role in determining whether he remains at Naturena or explores opportunities elsewhere.
For now, the midfielder remains a Kaizer Chiefs player, but his latest career move suggests that his future could become one of the interesting storylines to follow in the months ahead.
What do you think is the right move for Nkosingiphile Ngcobo — should he fight for his place at Kaizer Chiefs or consider a fresh challenge?t For Ngcobo?
Ngcobo’s move to Lupus Sports could prove important as he attempts to revive his career and secure a clearer path to regular first-team football.
