Relebohile Mofokeng’s move to Belgium is paying off. The 21-year-old winger’s market value has reportedly doubled just months after he left the PSL for Royal Union Saint-Gilloise.
A Flying Start at Union SG
Mofokeng has settled quickly at his new club, scoring four goals in nine appearances across all competitions. His form has coincided with a sharp rise in his valuation, which has reportedly climbed from €3 million to €6 million in four months. That is roughly R111 million.
From Soweto Standout to European Prospect
Before leaving, Mofokeng spent four successful years at Orlando Pirates and won seven trophies with the Soweto giants. His final season was exceptional, earning him the club’s Players’ Player of the Season, Footballer of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards.
He was also part of Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana squad at the Africa Cup of Nations, playing in three matches before his move to Europe.
The Price Tag Question
Union SG reportedly paid around R60 million to sign him from Pirates, which means his value has already moved well beyond the reported fee. If he keeps performing, his valuation could rise further and may even reach the €10 million mark.
What Comes Next
Sustained form could be key as Mofokeng looks to establish himself in European football and strengthen his place in the Bafana Bafana setup.
