Kaizer Chiefs could have a number of players back when they host Stellenbosch FC in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday evening at FNB Stadium. Fernando Da Cruz’s side are chasing the leaders after dropping points last month.
The Title Picture
Chiefs sit seven points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, though they have a game in hand. Rivals Orlando Pirates are six points ahead of them. Anything less than a win against Stellies could damage their title hopes.
Who Could Return?
- Langelihle Phili: The 21-year-old winger has missed two months with an ankle injury picked up in training. He may be nearing full fitness, but a return against his former club looks unlikely this week.
- Paseka Mako: The 32-year-old left-back has not played this season but is back in training and could be available for selection.
- Flavio Silva: The striker has missed recent matches but is reportedly fit again. He was one of last season’s standout signings, scoring nine goals, and would boost the attack.
- Brandon Petersen: The captain has recovered after missing the Golden Arrows game before the international break and is expected to return in goal. Renaldo Leaner has made it a tougher call for Da Cruz by keeping a clean sheet in his absence.
The Bottom Line
Chiefs will want as many players as possible available for a match that could shape their season. A win against a side that has beaten them in their last three meetings would put them back on track.
