The stage is set for a blockbuster international encounter as Bafana Bafana host Kenya in a crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Friday, 13 November 2026.
The first-leg clash will take place at the Orlando Amstel Arena in Soweto, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00, before the South Africans travel to Nairobi for the return fixture on Tuesday, 17 November.
High-Stakes Storylines & Qualification Scenarios
- Teacher vs. Student: The clash marks a fascinating tactical battle as Pitso Mosimane leads South Africa against former Bafana Bafana legendary striker Benni McCarthy, who makes his debut coaching appearance on home soil as head coach of Kenya.
- Group D Leaders: Bafana Bafana currently sit atop Group D following back-to-back September victories—defeating Guinea 2-1 in Johannesburg and dismantling Eritrea 5-0 in Egypt—alongside an impressive 1-0 win over Egypt in Cairo.
- On the Verge of AFCON 2027: A sweep of both fixtures against Kenya could officially seal South Africa’s qualification for AFCON 2027, provided results in the tie between Guinea and Eritrea go their way.
- Rising World Ranking: Fueled by their winning momentum, South Africa has climbed to 48th in the FIFA World Rankings and 10th in Africa. Coach Mosimane is expected to announce his preliminary squad in the coming days.
