Orlando Pirates have added another striking kit to their 2026/27 collection after officially unveiling their new third jersey in partnership with adidas.
The Buccaneers revealed the limited-edition strip on 24 October, with the jersey making its first official appearance at South Africa Fashion Week.
The launch comes at an exciting time for the Soweto giants, who recently secured their place in the CAF Champions League group stages following a convincing victory over African Stars.
Pirates blend football, fashion and Soweto heritage
The new third kit is more than just an alternative playing strip. According to Orlando Pirates, the design pays tribute to the club’s roots and the generations that have helped shape its identity.
Inspired by Orlando and the wider Soweto landscape, the jersey focuses on themes of belonging, resilience and togetherness.
The club described the limited-edition design as a celebration of its heritage while bringing a contemporary look to the Pirates brand.
“Rooted in Orlando, the home of the Buccaneers, the jersey tells a story of belonging, resilience and togetherness,” the club said.
The collaboration with adidas also highlights the growing connection between football, fashion and popular culture.
New Pirates jersey makes fashion statement
Rather than launching the kit solely on the football pitch, Orlando Pirates took the new design into the fashion world.
The third jersey was showcased at South Africa Fashion Week, giving the club an opportunity to present its football heritage in a completely different setting.
The move underlines Pirates’ ambition to make the club’s identity resonate beyond match days and into South Africa’s broader cultural landscape.
The Buccaneers already have their black-and-gold home strip and predominantly white away jersey for the 2026/27 campaign, with the new third kit now completing their collection.
When will Pirates wear the new third kit?
While the jersey has officially been unveiled, Pirates have yet to confirm when the new strip will make its competitive debut.
Supporters will therefore have to wait for the club to announce its first on-field appearance.
With Orlando Pirates competing domestically and in the CAF Champions League this season, there should be plenty of opportunities for the new kit to take centre stage.
For now, the question is simple: what do you think of the new Orlando Pirates third jersey?
