Amapiano royalty DJ Jaivane has fired back at accusations from a fellow industry figure that he wears knock-off designer gear and lacks true DJing skills.
The drama unfolded following a recent episode of the popular podcast Piano Pulse. During the broadcast, industry personality Sjuku allegedly took aim at Jaivane, claiming the hitmaker doesn’t actually know how to mix, but rather just “plays nice songs,” while also taking a swipe at his fashion choices.
You’ll Never Be Good
The comments immediately ignited a frenzy on social media, prompting a fiery response from Jaivane. Taking to his platforms, the DJ implied that critics are trying to tear him down to remain relevant.
“So vele nisifuna [you want us] in your drug levels, depressed and broke, Angeke bafwethu nisalunge [You’ll never be good]. WE GONE. That’s why trying to tarnish our brands is the first thing to keep y’all relevant.”
While Jaivane stopped short of naming Sjuku directly, fans quickly pieced together that the post was a direct response to the podcast insults.
Industry Divided
Jaivane, renowned for his curated mixtapes and defining the “private school amapiano” sound, received immense support from his fanbase, who credited him with building the genre’s culture.
However, the incident has highlighted growing tensions within the amapiano fraternity. It raises questions about whether platforms like Piano Pulse are fostering constructive critique or simply encouraging personal attacks for clicks.
As the genre continues to dominate local and international airwaves, fans are left wondering if this clash will fizzle out or escalate into a full-blown industry feud.
