The festive season plans of Amapiano-influenced rapper Shebeshxt (real name Lehlogonolo Chauke) are in serious jeopardy following his recent arrest, but his girlfriend and the mother of his late daughter, Kholofelo Moloto, remains optimistic that he will be released from police custody in time for his scheduled live performances.

The Current Legal Crisis
Shebeshxt was taken into custody in Polokwane on November 12 on serious charges stemming from an alleged October road rage shooting incident. This arrest complicates an already significant legal profile, adding to existing pending cases for which the rapper is currently out on R5,000 bail.
His prior legal issues include:
- Two counts of attempted murder.
- Assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
- Robbery with aggravating circumstances.
The trial for these older charges is currently slated for February 2026.
Escalation and Bail Risk
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has indicated that Shebeshxt’s history of alleged public outbursts and assaults could be used to aggravate his current legal standing. If the new charges are elevated to a Schedule Six offence—a category reserved for serious crimes like murder, rape, and specific instances of robbery—the threshold for granting bail becomes significantly higher, making his release before the festive season highly improbable.

Fan Skepticism Versus Personal Hope
Moloto publicly shared details of the rapper’s upcoming gig commitments on Facebook, signaling her belief in his timely release. However, the rapper’s fanbase appears unconvinced, with comments expressing doubt about his ability to fulfill the bookings:
- “Gig Guide? Is he gonna be able to perform?”
- “Is he going to perform via Zoom?”
- “Already he missed two and still counting.”
This disparity highlights the tension between the personal hope of those close to the artist and the grim reality presented by his mounting legal challenges and the tight timeline leading up to the holiday performance season.
