The controversy centers on a post from a Nicki Minaj fan account that featured a strongly-worded message calling for the veteran rapper to permanently exit the public eye due to perceived mental instability. The tweet read, in part: “Keep that album. Delete social media and hide yourself from the public. Just go away and never come back… You are too mentally insane to be in the public eye anymore. It was a good run… but it’s over now.

Tyla was implicated after it appeared she had retweeted the polarizing message. Although the repost was swiftly removed, the screenshot evidence ignited a firestorm, with critics divided over whether the interaction was a genuine accident or a deliberate statement. The situation was further fueled by Tyla’s publicly known friendly relationship with Nicki Minaj’s long-time rival, Cardi B, leading many to speculate the retweet was a calculated subtle jab.

While Nicki Minaj has not publicly responded, Tyla addressed the drama using a characteristic blend of humor and deflection. She shared a playful quote from the Hannah Montana song “Nobody’s Perfect,” tweeting:

“In trouble on the net again. #everybodymakesmistakes #everybodyhasthosedays #hacked,”

This lighthearted response quickly went viral. While staunch critics remain skeptical, many fans have applauded Tyla for her humorous approach, praising her for refusing to be dragged into hostility and opting for levity instead.
