Acclaimed vocalist Ntobeko Ngema, better known as Mawhoo, has come forward with a harrowing account of why she was absent from the RustyRocks Metro FM Tap Into 2026 event at Sun City. The “Ngizwenze” singer revealed that her team was the target of a violent, racially motivated attack while traveling to the venue on New Year’s Eve.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Mawhoo shared footage of her team’s touring van, which sustained significant damage during the altercation.

Details of the Incident
According to Mawhoo and an official statement from Mawhoo Entertainment, the group was en route from a previous engagement when they were intercepted.
- The Allegation: Mawhoo alleged that the attackers were a group of “boers” who targeted her team and physically assaulted her driver.
- The Impact: The severity of the attack and the resulting damage to their transport made it impossible for the artist to reach Sun City in time for her scheduled performance, despite efforts from both her management and the RustyRocks organizers.
- Legal Action: The team confirmed that the identities of the perpetrators have been established, stating, “We will be seeking further legal recourse” to ensure justice is served.

Apology to Fans
Mawhoo’s management issued a formal apology to the fans, patrons, and stakeholders at Sun City who had been eagerly awaiting her performance. They emphasized that the situation was entirely beyond the artist’s control and expressed deep regret for the disappointment caused during the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
