Mamelodi Sundowns’ newest marquee signing, Monnapule Saleng, has broken his silence regarding the injury that is set to sideline him for the next two months. In a rare show of transparency between a player and a club, Saleng revealed that the “Brazilians” were fully aware of his physical condition before he put pen to paper.

A Gamble Based on Quality
The former Orlando Pirates talisman confirmed that his move to Chloorkop was completed despite a pre-existing injury. While most clubs might hesitate to finalize a deal for a sidelined player, Sundowns viewed Saleng as a vital long-term asset.
“Sundowns signed me, knowing I was carrying the injury. They have belief that they can treat me back to full recovery,” Saleng stated.
The Road to Recovery
The injury is expected to keep the explosive winger out of action for approximately eight weeks. This timeline means Masandawana fans will have to wait until late March to see their new star in the yellow and blue.
- Medical Support: Saleng is currently undergoing an intensive rehabilitation program managed by Sundowns’ world-class medical team.
- Tactical Patience: Coach Manqoba Mngqithi is reportedly happy to wait for the winger, intending to integrate him into the squad once he is at 100% capacity for the business end of the season.
