What was supposed to be a lavish birthday getaway has turned into a high-stakes nightmare for South African socialite and reality TV star Eva Modika. Currently stranded in Dubai, the “Diamond” star has made a desperate public plea to President Cyril Ramaphosa and the South African government to intervene and bring her home.
Modika claims she is caught in the middle of a geopolitical firestorm, with escalating tensions between Israel, the USA, and Iran causing total chaos in Middle Eastern airspace.

The Birthday Celebration That Went South
Eva Modika flew to the “City of Gold” earlier this week for an ultra-luxury birthday party celebration. Known for her opulent lifestyle, the influencer had planned a series of high-end events to mark her special day with friends.
However, the celebration was cut short as regional conflict intensified, leading to:
- Mass Flight Cancellations: Major airlines have grounded flights or diverted routes away from the Persian Gulf.
- Border Closures: Increased security measures have made exit points difficult to navigate for foreign nationals.
The R250,000 Financial Blow
Being “stuck” in one of the world’s most expensive cities is proving to be a financial catastrophe. Eva revealed to her followers that she has already lost an estimated R250,000 due to the crisis.
These losses include:
- Forfeited Bookings: Non-refundable luxury hotel stays and event venues.
- Emergency Expenses: The skyrocketing cost of last-minute accommodation and inflated “rescue” flight tickets that are repeatedly being canceled.
- Missed Work: Lost revenue from brand partnerships and appearances back home in Mzansi.

Mr. President, Help Us!
Taking to her social media platforms, a visibly distressed Modika tagged the Presidency, urging them to prioritize the safety of South Africans currently in the UAE.
“We are stuck and it’s getting scary. The costs are piling up and the situation between Iran and the US is making it impossible to leave. President Ramaphosa, please look after your citizens abroad!”
The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) has yet to release a formal statement regarding a specific evacuation plan for South African tourists in Dubai, but the pressure is mounting as more travelers find themselves in Eva’s position.
