Orlando Pirates are reportedly closing in on "John Wick" winger Bohlale Ngwato from Siwelele FC. Could the 20-year-old be the replacement for Relebohile Mofokeng? Read more here.

Orlando Pirates appear to be making big moves for the future. The Soweto giants are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Bohlale Ngwato, the 20-year-old sensation currently turning heads at Siwelele FC.

With the Buccaneers potentially bracing for the departure of key stars Relebohile Mofokeng and Oswin Appollis to overseas clubs, Ngwato is being touted as the perfect successor to lead the Pirates’ frontline next season.

Who is Bohlale Ngwato?

Hailing from Ga-Rankuwa in Tshwane, Ngwato has enjoyed a meteoric rise since his professional debut in the Nedbank Cup against Richards Bay this February.

  • The “John Wick” Factor: Known for his fearless attacking style, Ngwato is an “enterprising right-sided left winger” who thrives on taking defenders one-on-one.
  • Man of the Match Performance: After only a handful of senior appearances, he secured his first Man of the Match award during last weekend’s stalemate against Marumo Gallants.
  • SuperSport Pedigree: A product of the prestigious SuperSport United academy, Ngwato transitioned to Siwelele following the club’s recent structural changes and has flourished under coach Lehloholo Seema.

Building for a Future Without Mofokeng and Appollis?

The timing of the pursuit is no coincidence. Both Mofokeng (11 goals, 8 assists) and Appollis (11 goals, 9 assists) have had stellar campaigns, making a move to European leagues highly likely this June.

Interestingly, Ngwato wears the number 38 jersey at Siwelele—the same number currently worn by Mofokeng at Pirates. Like the stars he may replace, Ngwato refined his skills in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) before proving his mettle in the top flight.
