Media personality and DJ Lamiez Holworthy has invited fans into the intimate details of her wedding day, revealing that her stunning bridal look was far more than just a fashion statement—it was a profound celebration of identity and reconciliation.
In a deeply personal social media update, Lamiez shared how her heritage and her parents’ unwavering support defined her journey to the altar.
A Fusion of Cultures: Tsonga and Beyond
Raised in a multicultural household, Lamiez was determined to ensure her wedding reflected the full spectrum of her lineage. She successfully blended the traditions of her mother’s side with those of her biological Tsonga father.
To execute this vision, she turned to renowned designer Orapeleng Modutle.
“He made me feel like a modern Black Disney Princess,” she shared, noting that the intentionality behind every stitch was meant to honor her cross-cultural upbringing.
Honoring the “Mother Who Fought”
The DJ also reflected on the challenges of her youth, admitting that growing up as the only Black child in her community often left her feeling like an outsider. She credited her mother for being her primary protector and advocate.
“My mother fought for me,” Lamiez wrote. “She CHOSE me over and over again, even if it meant losing her own family, and for that, I will forever honor her.”
Healing and Fatherhood
One of the most touching highlights of the ceremony was the presence of her father. In a powerful display of family unity, both of Lamiez’s parents walked her down the aisle.
She expressed deep gratitude for the “genuine love” she now shares with her father, playfully adding that she has become such a “daddy’s girl” that it sometimes sparks a bit of friendly jealousy from her mother.
Lamiez concluded her tribute with a spiritual reflection on her path: “If ever you needed a time to believe that we choose but GOD decides, I hope this is it. Badimo ba kogae (ancestors) made sure of it.”
