Eighteen-year-old Keira Snyman has taken a major step toward carrying on her family’s rugby legacy, trading her home in Denver, Colorado, to represent the Junior Springbok Women in Stellenbosch.
Watching proudly from the stands at Paul Roos Gymnasium’s Markötter Stadium was her father, 38-cap Springbok legend André Snyman, who made his debut in the green and gold 30 years ago. After making sacrifices to leave behind her life in the United States, Keira’s performances have already earned her a quick call-up to the Springbok Women’s Sevens pipeline.

A Proud Springbok Connection
Keira’s rugby journey began on the sidelines watching her father coach her younger brother in the US. Transitioning away from ballet, athletics, and field hockey, she developed a passion for rugby that led her to England Rugby and USA Rugby age-grade systems before committing to South Africa.
