MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe release their 15-track Rush-Awa debut album, bringing together major South African hip-hop artists and emerging talent.

MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe have officially joined forces as Rush-Awa, releasing their highly anticipated self-titled debut album. The 15-track project brings together some of South Africa’s biggest hip-hop names alongside a new generation of artists, making collaboration the central theme of the release.

Rather than focusing on a single sound or artist circle, Rush-Awa brings together different voices from across the South African hip-hop landscape. The project reflects the duo’s ambition to encourage greater unity and collaboration within the local hip-hop community.

Ahead of the album’s release, MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe described Rush-Awa as an attempt to bridge gaps between artists and create more opportunities for collaboration within the culture.

“This one is for South Ahh. Rush-Awa is here to fill the gap in collaboration in our beloved Hip Hop family. Let’s make Hip-Hop great again. Ke Rush-Awa Jo.”

Rush-Awa Builds Momentum Through Collaboration

The album follows a series of releases that introduced the Rush-Awa concept and its collaborative direction.

In June, the duo released “Lapisa”, featuring Lowfeye, LaCabra and Dolphin_DX. The energetic track went on to earn gold certification, giving the project an early milestone.

They followed it in August with “Ntshepe”, bringing together Loatinover Pounds, Sjava and Cassper Nyovest. The more measured collaboration expanded the project’s reach, while a remix of “Ballon d’Or”, featuring Focalistic and MfanaTouchLine, added further anticipation ahead of the album.

A Star-Studded 15-Track Album

Rush-Awa features an extensive lineup of established South African rappers and emerging voices.

Among the standout collaborations is “Chocolate 2by2”, featuring 25K, Blxckie and Maglera Doe Boy. “Streetz” brings together Blxckie, Nasty C and Usimamane, while Emtee joins issi on “Mama.”

The project also features “Umkhonto”, which brings together Blxckie, Flow Jones Jr., KindlyNxsh and K.Keed.

Other tracks include “Avuxeni” featuring Danya Devs and Dolphin_DX; “Bhenga” featuring issi, LaCabra and Lowfeye; “Luh Post” featuring BABYLOWSK1 and FLVME; and “Mbali” featuring LaCabra, Lowfeye and Wordz.

The album continues with “Tuff” featuring Blxckie and KindlyNxsh, “Kaofela” featuring Maglera Doe Boy, THE NORTHMOB. and Wordz, and “She Say” featuring 25K and BABYLOWSK1.

The closing track, “Pray 4 It,” features 25K, Mochen, Saint Cielo and Thato Saul.

MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe Lead the Production

At the centre of the project are MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe, whose production brings together hard-hitting drums, club-focused energy and street-influenced sounds.

Additional production contributions include CraigCreates, while Glo Thebeatz handled mixing and mastering at Playground Productions.

The result is a project built around variety, with different artists and musical styles sharing the same platform.

Rush-Awa Champions the Spirit of South African Hip-Hop

One of the album’s defining features is its emphasis on bringing artists from different corners of the scene together.

By combining established names with emerging talent, Rush-Awa creates a platform for different generations, sounds and audiences within South African hip-hop.

The 15-track album ultimately puts MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe’s collaborative vision into practice: a project built not around one artist, but around the wider culture and the power of collaboration.

Rush-Awa is now available on major streaming platforms.
