STELLENBOSCH — Stellenbosch University’s Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences (EMS) will host the inaugural lecture of Professor Rika Preiser on Tuesday, 04 August 2026.
Professor Preiser, co-incumbent of the UNESCO Chair in Complexity and Transformative African Futures at the Centre for Sustainability Transitions (CST), will address critical frameworks for navigating uncertainty, global interconnections, and social-ecological systems in her address titled “Worlds in the making: research on complexity and transformative change.”

- Current Roles: Co-incumbent of the UNESCO Chair in Complexity and Transformative African Futures; Professor at the Centre for Sustainability Transitions (SU).
- Academic Background: PhD in Philosophy, MPhil in Organizational Change, and MPhil in Media Ethics from Stellenbosch University.
- Global Leadership: Executive committee member of the International Federation for Systems Research and editorial board member for leading international systems journals.
