Kaizer Chiefs defender Miguel Inacio has welcomed the arrival of new signing Thabo Moloisane, praising the centre-back’s commitment after his debut in the 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Moloisane made his first competitive appearance for Amakhosi on Saturday after joining the club as a free agent in July. The defender was handed a starting role against reigning South African heavyweights Sundowns and looked comfortable alongside Inacio and Zitha Kwinika.
His debut came in a high-profile encounter at FNB Stadium, where Chiefs earned a valuable point against Masandawana.
Miguel impressed by Moloisane’s attitude
While Moloisane’s defensive performance caught the eye, it was his commitment and team-first mentality that particularly impressed his new teammate.
Inacio believes those qualities could make the new signing an important player for Chiefs throughout the season.
“That’s the kind of player I like. I’m happy with the signing of Thabo.”
The Portuguese defender added that Moloisane is the type of player who can bring something valuable to the squad as Chiefs look to challenge for honours.
For a team looking to build greater consistency at the back, having another experienced defender available could prove crucial as the campaign progresses.
Chiefs continue to strengthen
Moloisane is one of several new faces brought into the Chiefs squad during the current transfer window as the Soweto giants look to build a stronger squad.
The early signs have been encouraging.
The 1-1 draw against Sundowns leaves Chiefs near the top end of the Betway Premiership standings, with the result placing Amakhosi second behind Orlando Pirates.
The challenge now will be maintaining that momentum as the fixture schedule becomes increasingly demanding.
Phili also earns praise
Inacio also singled out another new Chiefs arrival, Langelihle Phili, for praise.
The 21-year-old winger has made an encouraging start to life at Naturena and has already shown his attacking potential, including scoring his first goal for the club against Sundowns.
Inacio stressed that the responsibility does not rest on the new arrivals alone, however. The established members of the squad will also need to raise their performances if Chiefs are to compete seriously for silverware.
“I can see in him that he’s a player capable of helping us.”
Moloisane’s role could become increasingly important
For Moloisane, the Sundowns clash provided an early opportunity to demonstrate why Chiefs brought him to the club.
With his experience, defensive qualities and willingness to put the team first, the centre-back could become an important part of the Amakhosi defence as the season unfolds.
And with Inacio already backing him, expectations will be high.
Moloisane has made his debut. Now the real test begins — can he help lead Kaizer Chiefs back to the top?
