South African actor Thabang Molaba, widely recognized for his starring role in Netflix’s Blood & Water, is making a significant leap onto the international stage by joining the cast of the highly anticipated film, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.
This third installment in the popular heist franchise officially premiered on November 14, 2025, and features an impressive ensemble, including returning Hollywood heavyweights like Morgan Freeman, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, and Dave Franco.
A Vicious Role with South African Roots
Molaba’s role in the global thriller is Lethabo Khoza, who is the right-hand man and muscle for the film’s main antagonist. The villain, Veronika Vanderberg (played by Rosamund Pike), is the head of a South African diamond company with a criminal history of money laundering. Crucially, the film’s plot and central heist are rooted in taking down this corrupt South African enterprise and redistributing the wealth, which gives the story a unique local flavor.
The actor, who is 30 years old and previously starred in The Queen, described the experience of joining such a high-profile production as surreal. “It was so surreal, I was like, this is happening. I was watching these people, now I am starring alongside them. Like what?” he told Spotlight South Africa. He also noted that the experience taught him important lessons about professionalism and humility.
Molaba’s character, Lethabo Khoza, is reported to be involved in action scenes and stunts, giving the South African star a chance to showcase a diverse range of acting skills in a global blockbuster.
