Kaizer Chiefs have finally cleared up the uncertainty surrounding their upcoming Betway Premiership fixture against Siwelele FC.
The highly anticipated encounter has been moved from Royal Bafokeng Stadium to Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto, while the date and kick-off time have also been changed.
The match will now take place on:
- Date: Sunday, 6 September 2026
- Kick-off: 17:30
- Venue: Dobsonville Stadium, Soweto
Chiefs put an end to fixture confusion
The fixture was initially scheduled for Saturday, 5 September at 20:00, with Royal Bafokeng Stadium listed as the venue.
Confusion then emerged after information from Moses Mabhida Stadium suggested the match could be played in Durban on Wednesday, 2 September.
Kaizer Chiefs have now put those reports to rest by confirming the final arrangements.
The switch to Dobsonville will bring the Amakhosi back to Soweto, giving their supporters an opportunity to watch the Glamour Boys closer to home.
Chiefs looking to stay in title race
The timing of the match is crucial for Fernando Da Cruz’s side.
Chiefs have collected eight points from their opening four league matches and currently sit third in the Betway Premiership standings.
The Amakhosi remain within touching distance of early leaders Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, but another dropped result could allow the teams at the top to create more separation.
With the fixture now being played in Soweto, Chiefs will be expected to make home advantage count.
Siwelele desperate for a turnaround
Siwelele head into the encounter with a very different objective.
The club currently sits 14th with just two points from four matches, making the trip to Soweto an important opportunity to change their fortunes.
A result against one of the league’s biggest clubs could provide Siwelele with a major confidence boost.
