Kaizer Chiefs were forced to bring one of their training sessions to an early end after lightning and heavy rain disrupted preparations for Sunday’s Betway Premiership meeting with Siwelele FC.
The weather interruption was treated as a precaution, with the Amakhosi players reportedly remaining in positive spirits despite the shortened session.
With a big league fixture approaching, however, the Glamour Boys will be eager to ensure that the stormy conditions are the only disruption they face this weekend.
Chiefs targeting another three points
Kaizer Chiefs head into Sunday’s encounter knowing that victory could be important in keeping pace with the teams at the top of the Betway Premiership standings.
The Amakhosi are currently five points behind joint leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, making every dropped point increasingly costly.
The meeting with Siwelele is scheduled for 17:30 at Dobsonville Stadium, with Chiefs looking to build momentum and avoid another frustrating result.
Their preparations have also been influenced by the latest squad news, with two players sidelined through injury while three others are reportedly closing in on returns.
Siwelele still searching for first win
On paper, Siwelele arrive at the fixture with plenty of problems of their own.
Lehlohonolo Seema’s side have collected just two points from their opening four league matches and currently occupy 14th place.
They began the campaign with draws against TS Galaxy and Chippa United before suffering defeats to Milford FC and AmaZulu FC.
Their lack of attacking production has been another concern. Siwelele have scored just three goals while conceding six, highlighting the challenge facing them against a Chiefs side determined to collect maximum points.

The previous league meetings between these sides provide an important warning for Kaizer Chiefs.

Tebogo Potsane gave Siwelele the perfect start with a seventh-minute opener before Sphesihle Jeza doubled their advantage in the 26th minute.
Chiefs never managed to recover.
