The Premier Soccer League has confirmed when football fans will discover the venue for the highly anticipated 2026 MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The PSL says the venue draw will take place at 20:00 and will be broadcast live on SuperSport PSL, Channel 202.
The announcement adds another layer of excitement to a final that pits two of South Africa’s biggest clubs against each other.
Pirates and Sundowns Renew MTN8 Rivalry
Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have developed a significant history in the MTN8, having faced each other 14 times in the competition.
Their previous meetings include 10 semi-finals, two quarter-finals and two finals.
The most recent final came in 2023, when Pirates lifted the trophy after a dramatic penalty shootout. Neither side could find the breakthrough during 120 minutes before the Buccaneers won 3-1 on penalties.
Goalkeeper Sipho Chaine played a decisive role, saving three penalties in the shootout.
The rivalry had already produced another memorable encounter in the 2022 semi-finals, when Pirates eliminated Sundowns with a 3-0 aggregate victory.
Pirates Chasing More MTN8 History
The Buccaneers enter the 2026 final with an extraordinary recent record in the competition.
Pirates have won the MTN8 in each of the last four seasons, lifting the trophy in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Their 2025 triumph over Stellenbosch FC made them the first club to win the competition four consecutive times.
That victory also took Pirates’ total MTN8 title tally to 14.
Their dominance has continued into the current campaign. Pirates reached a fifth successive MTN8 final after beating Sekhukhune United 4-0 on aggregate, another milestone in the club’s remarkable cup run.

The competition’s showpiece has been staged at several major South African stadiums in recent years.
Moses Mabhida Stadium hosted the 2021 final and subsequently staged three consecutive finals involving Pirates in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
The 2025 final moved to Mbombela Stadium, where Pirates defeated Stellenbosch after extra time.
