Orlando Pirates star center-back, Mbekezeli Mbokazi, is reportedly on the brink of a sensational move to the Major League Soccer (MLS). The club has reportedly agreed to a transfer fee exceeding R50 million for the services of the 20-year-old Bafana Bafana international.

According to reports, the young defender has already traveled to the United States to finalize personal terms with Chicago Fire.
Veteran journalist Mark Gleeson confirmed that the deal is valued at US$3 million and that Mbokazi is currently negotiating his contract with the MLS side. Should the personal terms be agreed upon, the standout player will officially become a Chicago Fire player, marking a major departure for the Buccaneers.

Mbokazi’s rapid rise has been noted both domestically and internationally.
- Despite his age, the defender has already clocked 37 appearances for Orlando Pirates, contributing two goals and two assists.
- His importance to the club was underscored this season when he was named the team’s deputy captain.
His departure would be a significant gain for the MLS and represents a substantial transfer fee earned by the Soweto giants.
