Karabo Moroka is making a comeback! South African actress Connie Ferguson is set to return to Generations: The Legacy, exciting fans of the iconic SABC 1 soapie. But while viewers celebrate her return, another familiar face has sparked curiosity: Somizi Mhlongo.
A video shared on the soapie’s social media platforms shows Connie walking through the backstage corridors, greeting and interacting with members of the production team.
Her appearance has reignited excitement around Karabo Moroka, one of the most recognisable characters in South African television.
Connie Ferguson Returns as Karabo Moroka
Connie Ferguson’s return marks another chapter in her long association with Generations, which first premiered in 1994.
The actress became a household name through her portrayal of Karabo Moroka, a character whose elegance, confidence and dramatic storylines helped cement her place in the hearts of viewers.
Over the years, Ferguson has stepped away from the soapie on different occasions to pursue other projects, including building Ferguson Films alongside her late husband, Shona Ferguson.
Now, her anticipated comeback has fans looking forward to seeing Karabo back on their screens.
The backstage video has added to the excitement, with viewers taking to social media to welcome the actress back to the show.
Is Somizi Mhlongo Joining Generations?
While Connie’s return is the main attraction, Somizi Mhlongo’s appearance in the video has also got fans talking.
Could the entertainer be preparing to join the cast, or was his presence connected to something happening behind the scenes? For now, viewers are speculating, and no role for Somizi has been confirmed in the information available.
Some fans have imagined him playing Karabo’s best friend, while others have suggested he could contribute to the production’s wardrobe and styling, given his interest in fashion design.
Another theory doing the rounds is that Somizi could appear as himself, potentially in a storyline involving Metro FM’s Ask a Man segment.
These remain fan theories rather than confirmed details about his involvement.
Somizi’s Acting Career Goes Beyond Entertainment
Although many people know Somizi for his work as a television personality, radio host and entertainer, he also has acting experience.
His appearance in the 1992 film Sarafina! remains one of the notable highlights of his early career. He has since continued to build a profile across several areas of South African entertainment.
That background has added fuel to the speculation about whether he could make an appearance on Generations: The Legacy.
However, until the show or Somizi confirms any casting news, the nature of his appearance remains unclear.
