A firearm recovered from murder accused Siyanda Eddie Myeza at the time of his arrest has been linked through ballistics evidence to the cartridges recovered at the scene where rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were fatally shot.
A ballistics expert told the Durban High Court on Monday that testing established that the firearm recovered from Myeza fired the cartridges found at the scene of the February 2023 killings.
The evidence represents a significant development in the State’s case as the court continues to hear testimony surrounding the deaths of AKA and Tibz.
The two men were shot dead outside a Durban venue in February 2023, sending shockwaves through South Africa’s music and entertainment industry.
The latest testimony focuses on the forensic evidence allegedly connecting the firearm recovered from Myeza to ammunition found at the murder scene.
Myeza is among those facing murder-related charges in connection with the case. The ballistics evidence forms part of the broader body of evidence being presented to the court, and the accused remain entitled to the presumption of innocence until the matter is concluded.
Proceedings in the Durban High Court are continuing as the State presents its case.
