Mamelodi Sundowns’ CAF Champions League title defence has come to an early end after the reigning champions were held to a 1-1 draw by Williette at Loftus Versfeld.
Masandawana went into the second leg knowing that victory was essential after the two sides played out a goalless draw in the first meeting in Angola.
Sundowns made the perfect start when Tashreeq Matthews put the hosts ahead in the 11th minute, giving the Pretoria giants hope of securing their place in the next round.

While Sundowns suffered disappointment, Orlando Pirates enjoyed a memorable night on the continent.
The Buccaneers comfortably defeated African Stars 4-0 in their second leg, progressing with a convincing 5-0 aggregate victory and securing their place in the CAF Champions League group stage.
The contrasting fortunes of South Africa’s two giants will undoubtedly provide plenty of talking points, with Pirates now carrying the country’s hopes in the competition alongside the other remaining continental contenders.
For Sundowns, however, the challenge is now to respond domestically.
With the Betway Premiership and domestic cup competitions still to play for, the Brazilians have an opportunity to turn their disappointment into motivation.
The big question now is whether Sundowns can bounce back from their continental setback and finish the season with another domestic title.
