South African hip-hop star Blxckie is officially counting down to the release of his next major project, YENA, after unveiling the album’s complete 15-track tracklist.
The highly anticipated album is scheduled to drop on Friday, 30 October 2026, marking what looks set to be another significant chapter in the Durban-born rapper’s career.
Blxckie shared the album artwork and full tracklist with fans on social media, accompanying the announcement with a heartfelt message thanking listeners for their patience.
“‘YENA’ this Friday. thank you for your patience, i owe you everything. uthando alupheli nanini.”
The Zulu phrase, meaning “love never ends”, adds an emotional layer to the rollout and reinforces the personal direction surrounding the project.
Blxckie brings a strong guest lineup
YENA features an impressive mix of South African and international talent.
A-Reece joins Blxckie on “bonkerz”, while American rapper Bas appears on “cover me”. Nigerian singer L.A.X features on “lonely”, a track that has already been released as a single.
Other collaborations include KindlyNxsh on “let em have it” and Durban rapper Usimamane on “dradi”.
The album also features “brady’s interlude”, which appears to reference Blxckie’s longstanding creative connection with producer K1llbrady.
A 15-track journey
The project opens with “mama, it’s all good” before moving through tracks including “take me back,” “mr party,” “uphi?” and “welcome to the function.”
Other titles include “vul’ amehlo (open ur eyes),” “wala (wa)” and “die tomorrow”, hinting at a project that could explore a wide range of emotions, experiences and perspectives.
The extensive production credits also point to a collaborative creative process, with contributors including Christer, Kobedi, Loud, Halleer, Fourie, Isaiah, Kaleo, HILA, Archippe, Tjdank, Xiles, Wxvambient, Euan, Dstbeats, DO2, Dijon, Buffeli, Yenivr, Lucent, Bxngzy, TM88, C$D SID, SUA, Clemzy, Herc Cut The Lights, KindlyNxsh, Crxigcreates, Soulkit, Ariaty, Syiar, Ruff and Nkosi.
The involvement of American producer TM88 adds another international dimension to the project.
A new era rooted in Blxckie’s past
YENA arrives after a busy year for Blxckie, who released the 4LUV2 EP and continued building his catalogue through collaborations.
The album rollout has also given fans glimpses into the rapper’s roots. Blxckie previously revisited old freestyle footage from his teenage years in Sydenham Heights, offering a look at the beginnings of the artist he would eventually become.
The album artwork continues that theme. Featuring a solitary silhouette standing in front of a glowing green doorway surrounded by darkness, the visual suggests transition, discovery and the opening of a new chapter.
Released through Somnyama Music Entertainment and EMPIRE, YENA appears to bring together Blxckie’s past, present and future while keeping his distinctive sound at the centre.
With the full tracklist now revealed and the album arriving on 30 October, the wait is almost over.
Blxckie is ready to open the door to the YENA era.
