Flash Ikumkani reunites with Emtee on “Badman,” a new single produced by Young2unnBeats ahead of his album Mini Enzima.

Eastern Cape rapper Flash Ikumkani has brought Emtee back into the fold for his latest single, “Badman,” a collaboration that sets the stage for the release of his new album, Mini Enzima.

Produced by longtime creative partner Young2unnBeats, the track sees the two artists reconnect musically, building on a relationship that has delivered some memorable moments for their respective audiences. Released through Pika Records and distributed by SOL Distro, “Badman” offers listeners a taste of the direction Flash is taking with his latest body of work.

“Badman” confronts judgement and public perception

Born Hlumile Mangoloti in Peelton, near King William’s Town, Flash Ikumkani has carved out a place in South African hip-hop through his distinctive isiXhosa delivery and candid storytelling.

On “Badman,” he turns his attention to the labels people place on others. The song explores what it means to be judged by appearances, assumptions and outside opinions, while encouraging listeners to remain grounded in their own identity rather than allowing other people’s perceptions to define them.

The single’s artwork, which was revealed earlier this month, features Flash and Emtee against a bold red urban backdrop, with Pika Records branding. The visual presentation reflects the energy of the reunion and the renewed creative partnership behind the release.

Emtee collaboration builds on a successful history

The pairing carries significance for fans who have followed the artists’ journey. Flash and Emtee previously worked together on “Mama,” a collaboration that has surpassed one million streams on Spotify and remains one of Flash’s recognised releases.

Their connection extends beyond the latest single. Emtee also appears on Mini Enzima track “Long Time Coming,” alongside LIX, giving the project two collaborations featuring the award-winning rapper.

Flash has openly expressed his admiration for Emtee, previously describing him as his “GOAT” and pointing to the similarities in their songwriting approaches. Their renewed studio partnership follows the pair putting past differences behind them earlier this year.

‘Mini Enzima’ reflects a personal chapter

Arriving on 30 October, Mini Enzima represents another important milestone in Flash’s musical development. The album brings together his personal experiences, Eastern Cape roots and the influences that have helped shape his identity as an artist.

The project also carries a deeply personal dedication to his late grandfather, giving the album an emotional dimension beyond its musical ambitions. Flash has described the body of work as soulful and mature, with uthando — meaning love — serving as a central theme.

With “Badman” introducing the album’s message, Flash Ikumkani is using Mini Enzima to tell a story shaped by family, personal growth and the realities of being misunderstood. The reunion with Emtee adds another layer to the project, while reinforcing Flash’s determination to define his own path in South African hip-hop.
