Controversial businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala has been relocated to the notorious eBongweni Correctional Facility in Kokstad, KwaZulu-Natal—South Africa’s only super-maximum security prison.
The move comes as Matlala prepares to face the Johannesburg High Court in January 2026 for a high-profile murder conspiracy case that has captivated the nation.

Matlala was moved from Pretoria’s Kgosi Mampuru II C-Max unit on December 21, 2025. His new home is a facility designed for the “worst of the worst” and high-risk inmates who require total isolation and 24-hour surveillance.
