🇿🇦 Broos Confident: Bafana Bafana AFCON Squad Already 80% Finalized

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has announced his 22-man squad to face Zambia in an international friendly, scheduled for Saturday, November 15, in Gqeberha.

Broos has opted for consistency, retaining the core of the team that participated in the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The squad includes several foreign-based players, signalling the coach’s commitment to preparation ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, which kicks off in Morocco on December 21, 2025.

The only new inclusion mentioned is Sekhukhune United midfielder Keletso Makgalwa. Broos explained that he is focused on continuity rather than major changes right before the prestigious continental tournament:

“We are preparing for AFCON, it’s not the moment to be calling those players – Shandre is in the selection of 45-50 players. But changing things before a big tournament like AFCON is not a good idea.”

The friendly against Zambia at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium will be Bafana Bafana’s final match during the FIFA international window this year.
