The 130th edition of Africa’s greatest horse racing event is officially set for a high-note opening. South African actress and singer Anlia Etzebeth has been confirmed to perform Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika ahead of the main event at the Hollywoodbets Durban July on Saturday, 4 July.

As the country prepares for the record-breaking R10 million race at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse, Anlia’s performance adds a layer of prestige to a day already defined by “Country Allure.”

A Proven Track Record of Performance

Anlia is no stranger to the pressure of the big stage. She famously delivered a spine-tingling rendition of the anthem in 2022 at Cape Town Stadium—a historic day where her husband, Springbok legend Eben Etzebeth, celebrated his 100th Test cap.

“It is always such an incredible honour to sing our National Anthem,” said Anlia. “It is even more special to get to sing it at this year’s Hollywoodbets Durban July. I cannot wait.”

The Power Couple of Hollywoodbets

Both Anlia and Eben serve as brand ambassadors for Hollywoodbets. While Anlia continues to shine on screen in hits like Suidooster and Raised by Wolves, Eben remains a titan of the turf as the most-capped Springbok in history (141 Tests). Now playing for the Sharks, Eben’s presence alongside Anlia at Greyville cements the event as a true collision of South African sporting and entertainment royalty.

Get Ready for “Country Allure

This year’s theme, “Country Allure,” invites fashionistas and designers to blend rural South African landscapes with sophisticated equestrian heritage. With a massive R10 million purse on the line and a world-class entertainment lineup, the 130th running is poised to be the most successful in history.
