Transfer Rumour: Chiefs Cool Interest in Emile Witbooi

Kaizer Chiefs showed initial interest in Cape Town City’s promising 17-year-old attacking midfielder, Emile Witbooi, who is currently turning heads with his performances for Amajimbos at the U17 World Cup in Qatar. Witbooi, whose talent has also attracted attention from clubs like Premier League giants Chelsea, previously attended a trial at Naturena when he was 16.

However, Chiefs’ technical staff ultimately decided against making a firm offer due to reservations about the player’s physical development.

Witbooi’s father, former Sundowns star Surprise Ralani, confirmed the club’s rationale:

“Chiefs said something about his physicality. He was not built enough according to their standards. But the football side was there, and they had to turn him back. Chiefs said he needed to grow a little bit. So that is how it happened. But he was there at Chiefs,” Ralani explained.
