It is the end of the road for Kaizer Chiefs in the 2026 CAF Confederation Cup. In a dramatic final day of group stage action, the Soweto giants suffered a crushing 2-1 defeat to Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek SC, failing to secure the point needed to progress.
The result means Kaizer Chiefs finish outside the top two in Group D, agonizingly missing out on the quarter-finals.
A Dramatic Exit
Chiefs entered the final matchday top of the table and needed only a draw against Zamalek to guarantee their place in the last eight.
- Zamalek Dominance: Despite a valiant effort, Chiefs were overwhelmed by a clinical Zamalek side in Ismailia.
- Goal Differential: While Kaizer Chiefs finished level on 10 points with Al Masry, they were eliminated due to a lower goal differential after Al Masry secured a 2-0 win over ZESCO United in the other group fixture.
Zamalek SC and Al Masry now advance to the quarter-finals, leaving the South African side to reflect on a missed opportunity.
