Siwelele FC head coach Lehlohonolo Seema confirms he wants to retain Kaizer Chiefs loanees Samkelo Zwane and Happy Mashiane for next season.

As the Betway Premiership approaches its dramatic final day, Siwelele FC head coach Lehlohonolo Seema has broken his silence on the future of Samkelo Zwane and Happy Mashiane. Both players are currently on loan from Kaizer Chiefs, and Seema has made it clear that he would welcome the chance to keep them in Bloemfontein on a more permanent basis.

Siwelele enters the final matchday with an outside shot at a top-eight finish if they secure a win on Saturday and other results swing in their favor. While the structural rush of a condensed calendar ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 limited their integration time, Seema remains fully convinced of the duo’s elite technical quality.

Seema Wants a Full Pre-Season with Chiefs Duo

Zwane and Mashiane struggled to find consistent game time at Naturena before their loan moves, leading many Amakhosi fans to believe a fresh start elsewhere is the best path forward for their careers.

Speaking directly to Soccer Laduma, Seema explained that the high-pressure environment of a relegation fight and a congested fixture list prevented the duo from showing their absolute best form, but he feels a full pre-season would unlock their true potential.

“They are good players, and every coach would love to have them in their team, but unfortunately, time was not on their side because this team had to win games, and we had to save ourselves,” Seema stated. “Games were coming thick and fast because of the World Cup, so we had to work hard. There are players that, if their teams want us to have them, we can definitely have them from pre-season because I can tell you they are good players.”

The Ball is in Kaizer Chiefs’ Court

While Mashiane and Zwane haven’t completely set the stage alight during their short loan stints, the final decision on whether they return to Johannesburg or stay with the Bloemfontein-based fan favorites rests entirely with the Amakhosi hierarchy.

“If they are available, why not? It’s not our decision to make. We will have to wait on Chiefs,” Seema concluded.

With Kaizer Chiefs planning a massive squad clearout ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, offloading the underutilized pair to Siwelele permanently could provide the perfect solution for all parties involved.
